At Howard University, we’re focused on providing our students with valuable experiences that prepare them to become future biopharmaceutical industry leaders. When our College of Pharmacy looked to collaborate with an organization to develop a fellowship in Regulatory Affairs, we wanted a partner that not only thinks strategically about the issues facing the pharmaceutical industry but can also effectively create new and innovative ways to address them.

For this reason, we’re proud to embark on a new collaboration with BioMarin Pharmaceuticals to develop a 2-year Regulatory Affairs fellowship that provides new opportunities for early career professionals with a PharmD or Ph.D. that will prepare them for an industry career, while also contributing to efforts in rare disease drug development.

The Fellowship Program in Regulatory Affairs will provide recent Howard PhD and PharmD graduates with a strong academic foundation based on immersive and robust exposure to the drug development process. The added focus on rare genetic diseases will also allow fellows to cultivate experience working with unique drug products, giving them a valuable boost as they launch careers in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Founded in 1867, Howard University is a private research university comprised of 14 schools and colleges. The University operates with a commitment to Excellence in Truth and Service and has produced one Schwarzman Scholar, three Marshall Scholars, four Rhodes Scholars, 12 Truman Scholars, 25 Pickering Fellows and more than 165 Fulbright recipients. Howard also produces more on-campus African American Ph.D. recipients than any other university in the United States.

We are excited to begin our partnership with BioMarin to advance careers and increase diversity in this industry.

As our program launches, we look forward to providing more updates on our Fellows, their work and their positive impact across our industry.
